Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil was delighted after their convincing win of 4-0 against Punjab FC in the 15th match week of the Indian Super League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi on Thursday. Daniel Chima Chukwu scored the opening goal for the visitors in the 11th minute of the game.
Mohammed Sanan then doubled the team’s lead in the 63rd minute whereas Jeremy Manzorro scored a brace to put the game in Red Miners’ pocket. Jamshedpur FC had 53% possession and took eight shots on target.
Jamil was delighted with the team’s collective effort to bag three crucial points.
“Everybody worked very hard. We tried to create chances,” Jamil said in the post-match press conference.
“We got an early goal. I think with Rehenesh TP’s penalty save, the match turned a little bit. We got another goal at the start of the second half. Jeremy Manzorro scored an outstanding free-kick goal. So, all things went in our favour tonight,” he added.
Meanwhile, Punjab FC were coming into the match after winning their last two games. Jamil said he isn’t yet thinking about playoffs and wants to stay focused on the next game.
“I didn’t make the calculation. We are playing with a good team. Punjab FC did well in their last two games. So, it was difficult tonight to play at their home. But now we are focusing on our next match,” he shared.
Jamil also showered praise on the defender Muhammad Uvais, who has impressed with his consistent game.
Speaking about the potential of his Indian left-back, the head coach stated, “Uvais played well and improved a lot.”
“He is left-footed and has a good physique. I substituted him because he was on a yellow card. He is improving match by match, but he still needs to improve,” he concluded.
Jamshedpur FC will next take on East Bengal FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Thursday.
