Mumbai City FC has signed the services of former Inter Milan striker Jakub Vojtus as a replacement for Iker Guarrotxena. The Islanders took to their social media to confirm the signing on Monday, pending a medical examination.
The Slovakian forward started his footballing career with MKS Zilma before grabbing the attention in Italy. Vojtus is a product of the youth system of Inter Milan and played across several clubs in Poland and Romania.
Vojtuš last played for the Romanian side ACSM Politehnica Iasi, where he scored three goals in 22 games. The striker has also represented Slovakia in different age groups.
Meanwhile, Iker Guarrotxena was ruled out with a knee injury earlier in the season. The Spaniard scored three goals and provided two assists in six matches he played before getting injured.
Furthermore, Jorge Pereyra Diaz came off the bench to mark his return from injury in the match against NorthEast United and thus it was a huge boost for the Islanders.
On the other hand, Mumbai City FC currently stands at the numero uno position in the league table with 39 points from 19 matches, having won 11 of them and drawn six.
Ergo, the Petr Kratky’s side has a great chance to defend their League Shield title but they have played one more match than Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who also have 39 points under their belt.
Mumbai City FC has three matches remaining in the ongoing League Stage against Hyderabad FC, Odisha FC, and Mohun Bagan Super Giant and they will carry on the good show.
Mumbai City FC has won three out of their last five matches with two ending in stalemates.
