Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil feels they deserved to get three points after a 1-1 draw against Bengaluru FC in the match week 14 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur in the Indian Super League on Sunday.
Sures Singh scored the opening goal for the visitors in the 14th minute. However, Javi Siverio equalized in the 70th minute of the game for the Red Miners. The home team dominated the possession with 57.1% and took five shots on target but had to share the spoils in the end.
“Everybody played well. We tried to get three points and we deserved to get (the) three points,” Jamil stated in the post-match press conference.
The hosts created plenty of chances in the first half but could not add the finishing touches. Jamshedpur FC took a total of 12 shots but failed to find the back of the net on more than one occasion.
“In the first half, we tried and created good chances, but the finishing was not up to the mark. In the second half, we made a couple of changes, and the players who came in made a difference,” he commented.
Meanwhile, Jamshedpur FC has won three out of the 15 matches they have played in the ongoing season and they are currently in eighth place in the standings. Jamil said they need to win their home matches to be more consistent.
“We have to win home matches. Then everything will be fine,” Jamil said.
Jamshedpur FC have won two out of their last five matches and they will need to come up with a more collective effort.
The Red Miners will next take on Punjab FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi on Thursday.
