Chennaiyin FC has signed the services of Indian winger Alexander Romario Jesuraj on a multi-year deal, the club announced on Thursday. The 25-year-old has won two I-league titles so far in his career and he will play for his home ISL side in the upcoming season of the tournament.
There is no doubt that Alexander Romario Jesuraj will add strength to Marina Machans and he will look to give his best to the club in the ninth edition of the Hero ISL.
“Romario brings versatility and experience to our ranks. He played a pivotal role in Chennai City and Mohun Bagan’s title winning run in the I-League. And being a Tamil Nadu player himself, he will be well aware of the responsibilities that come with representing a team from the state. We’re truly delighted to have him in the Chennaiyin family,” said Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani.
Meanwhile, the midfielder has improved his game a lot in the last few years. Jesuraj made his I-league debut with Chennai City FC in 2017. He played a key role in the team’s I-league winning campaign as he scored two goals and provided two assists in the 2019 season.
“I feel very happy and delighted to sign for Chennaiyin FC. It is very special for me as this is my home team. It will also be special for me to play in front of Tamil Nadu fans. I will do everything I can on the pitch to support the team,” said Jesuraj.
Jesuraj has played a total of 89 matches in his career in which he has scored eight goals and has provided seven assists.
On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC could not qualify for the semifinal stages in the previous season as they only managed five wins in their 20 league stage matches. Thus, they finished at the eighth place in the points table and they will be determined to turn the tables in the next season.
