Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag feels Marcus Rashford will use the Euro 2024 snub in the FA Cup final as fuel. Rashford could not make the cut into England’s Euro squad and he will look to prove his mettle against derby rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final on 25th May at the Wembley Stadium.
Rashford could not deliver the goods for Manchester United in the Premier League 2023-24 season as he scored only seven goals and provided two assists in 33 matches after having a fantastic run in 2022-23 edition.
“He looks good,” Ten Hag said when asked about Rashford’s mood following his England disappointment.
“That is the career, ups and downs and a down can also be fuel. That is what I see in training. He will be highly motivated. He is highly talented.
“He has already a big career. I am sure he will get over this and get even more goals.”
The Dutchman added he came to Old Trafford to win trophies and he would like his team to be at their best against City.
“I came here to win trophies,” Ten Hag said.
“Saturday is the next opportunity. We earned it as a team and now we have to go for it.
“Every season we review and we will see where we are in the project and what we have to change. There are very good things, players coming up and developing and at the same time we have on Saturday a big opportunity to win the next trophy.”
Manchester United had a horrid season in the Premier League as they finished in eighth place and they will want to end their 2023-24 edition on a high. However, they will have their work cut out against the Premier League champions on Saturday.
