Bengaluru FC head coach Gerard Zaragoza was delighted after the team’s third win of the Indian Super League 2024-25 season. The Blues registered a convincing win of 3-0 against the previous season’s League Shield Champions Mohun Bagan at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru on Saturday.
With this win, Bengaluru FC moved to the top of the ISL standings as they continued their rich form. Edgar Mendez and Suresh Singh scored in the first 20 minutes to give a 2-0 lead to their team.
In the 51st minute, Bengaluru FC captain Sunil Chhetri scored from the spotkick to give a thumping win to his team. Zaragoza’s team has ticked the right boxes in the 11th season of the league and they will look to continue the good show.
“Let me enjoy. Three games, three wins, and we are happy. But it’s too early. These people (Mohun Bagan SG) will win a lot of matches; Mumbai City FC will be there, and Odisha FC will be there,” Zaragoza said in the post-match press conference.
“A lot of teams are improving this season: Punjab FC, Jamshedpur FC. I think let us enjoy this night, and for tomorrow morning we need to prepare and recover. Because in four days we are going to Mumbai, and (it’ll be) difficult there,” he added.
Zaragoza showered praise on the young players and the bench strength of the team as they have impressed with their skills.
“Too happy. Because when you have young players. Today, we had four from the bench, and the game was good. No, but when you get these kinds of players like Ryan (Williams), Shivaldo (Singh). It’s amazing.”
“It’s amazing, but it’s not the quality; it’s the commitment. How they want, how the team wants. They want to win. We say from the first training session, you need to win every single exercise. Then you know football, you know it’s like this,” he continued.
Bengaluru FC will next take on Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai on Wednesday.
