Manchester United’s defender Noussair Mazraoui feels the players should not put pressure on themselves despite a slow start to the season. The Red Devils won the opening match of their campaign against Fulham by 1-0 at Old Trafford.
However, Erik Ten Hag’s team was stunned against Brighton by 2-1 in their first away game of the season. The Moroccan full-back feels they should have won against the Seagulls but they conceded in the fifth minute of the stoppage time.
Meanwhile, United signed players like Noussair Mazraoui, Joshua Zirkzee, and Matthijs de Ligt during the off-season after finishing eighth in the Premier League standings in the previous season, which was their worst ever finish.
“We played good the first 2 games. We won one, and we lost one, which we could have also won.
“We should not put pressure on ourselves. Of course, we all know what happened last season, but a small setback shouldn’t make us feel like it’s last season all over again. Brighton also invested €200M.”
As per BBC, United signed Mazraoui for £17.2 million from Bayern Munich. The defender has started in both matches of the season so far and he is going to hold the key for United.
He said after his arrival to United as quoted by BBC, “It is exciting to be reuniting with him (Ten Hag) as I enter the prime years of my career. I know what he expects from his players, and I will give everything to help the group be successful.”
Manchester United will host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday and Mazraoui is once again expected to start in the final XI.
