PKL 2024: The win against Bengal Warriorz will give us a lot of confidence – Gujarat Giants captain Guman Singh ahead of clash against Jaipur Pink Panthers

Gujarat Giants skipper Guman Singh reckons the 47-28 win against Bengal Warriorz will add a shot in their arm before the clash against inaugural champions Jaipur Pink Panthers on Friday.

Before their match against the Pink Panthers, the Giants had managed a solitary win in eight matches and were struggling at the bottom of the standings. They are still at the bottom of the points table but they would believe that the win against the Warriorz could be a dawn for their new beginning.

Guman Singh was able to lead from the front as he top-scored with 17 points to help his team bag a much-needed win.

Guman Singh said as quoted by the official website of PKL, “The win against the Bengal Warriorz will give us a lot of confidence. We played well, both in defense and in attack, and the coach had told me to play freely, which helped too.” Guman finished the game against the Bengal Warriorz with 17 points, and he has scored 65 points in the 9 games so far.

Looking ahead to the next game against the Jaipur Pink Panthers, Guman Singh added, “We have to play like we did today. The Gujarat Giants must play without pressure and we will put in our best efforts on the mat as well.”

On the other hand, head coach Ram Mehar Singh feels every team in the tournament is strong irrespective of their place in the table.

“We cannot say that any team is weak, all the teams in PKL Season 11 are very strong sides. No matter what the points table says. And yes, defeats do affect the players’ confidence, and if both the defenders and attackers play well, we can do well in the next game as well,” said coach Ram Mehar Singh.

The coach further added that their focus will be on the entire team rather than a single individual.

He concluded, “Arjun Deshwal is a good raider, but that does not mean that the Gujarat Giants will focus on only him, because there are 6 other players on the mat, who can also cause damage. For us, it is important to ensure our defenders and attackers perform well and in tandem because then we are a different team.”
