Indian wrestlers continue their impressive form at the Asian U-15 Championships in Chinese Taipei, on Saturday, as they won six gold medals. The team was led by 2019 Cadet world Champion Komal (39kg).
The gold medals won by the Indian team makes it a total of eight gold medals after they began their campaign with two golds on Friday. Komal, who is one of the fastest rising stars in Indianapolis wrestling performed excellently well and lived up to the hype. Together with the other girls( Saloni 33kg, and Babli 36kg) who were impressive finished on top of the podium brilliantly.
The three girls displayed a high level of intelligence and professionalism and were dominant in remaining undefeated in their various categories.
The wrestlers continued their performance on day two as Akash performed brilliantly to beat Daiki Ogawa of Japan in the 48kg category. Akash’s fast reflexes did not give any chances in the bout as he was fast to repel any moves made by the young Japanese as the Indian became victorious in the 8-3 win.
Young debutant as well Udit Kumar won a silver medal in the 52kg. In fact, all the six Indian wrestlers in the squad have won a medal each. Their performances have earned them the leading spot in the team rankings list with 125 points closely followed by Kazakhstan by 120 points.
The Greco-Roman category turned out to be the biggest surprise of the day. A particular category that has always been challenging to attain for India has now become the most significant winning ground for the four wrestlers as they all got a medal.
