Novak Djokovic has confirmed that he underwent knee surgery in Paris and he is hopeful of making a quick comeback on the tour. Djokovic played two marathon matches against Lorenzo Musetti and Francisco Cerundolo, which aggravated his knee trouble.
Thus, the Serbian had to pull out of the ongoing Roland Garros and didn’t play his quarterfinal clash against Casper Ruud. Djokovic also lost out on his number-one spot in the PIF ATP rankings to Jannik Sinner.
“In the past day, I had to make some tough decisions after sustaining a meniscus tear during my last match,” revealed Djokovic on his social media account. “I’m still processing it all but I am happy to update you that the surgery went well.”
He continued, “I am so appreciative of the team of doctors who have been by my side, as well as the overwhelming support I have received from my fans.
“I’m going to do my best to be healthy and fit to return to the court as soon as possible. My love for this sport is strong and the desire to compete at the highest level is what keeps me going.”

According to reports, the recovery time for this type of injury is around three weeks, which puts Djokovic’s participation in Wimbledon in doubt. Furthermore, Djokovic could be in doubt for the Olympics.
The Serbian is yet to win a single title in the ongoing season and he would be determined to prove his mettle when he makes his comeback on the tour.
