Sania Mirza ready to cope with challenge of motherhood and Tennis

It is a good thing that India has to break new ground in tennis with their qualification to the playoffs of the Fed Cup.

Sania Mirza, who is one of India’s most decorated sportsperson, has said that motherhood is really a tough job as a sportsperson.

Thanks to her husband, Sania Malik, who had time with her son Izhaan Mirza Malik at the Dubai Tennis Stadium while she continued to inspire the lads to history.

Speaking after their triumph in the group behind China, she gave an example of a rough night that she had to sleep at 4 am because her son was waking up for food a couple of times during the night.

So, coming out to still play and deliver for her team is a tough job judging from the intensity of the games. She further stated that she could cope with it mentally because it is more of physical work.

She had skipped the first two ties against China and Uzbekistan before teaming up with Ankita Raina to win crucial doubles against South Korea, Chinese Taipei, and Indonesia, which secured India’s ticket to the playoffs which holds in April.

With the feat being India’s historic first-ever entry into the Fed Cup playoffs, their previous best was in 2006 when they were runners-up in the Asia/Oceania Group I.

Provided they win their next two games in the playoffs, India will be competing in the 2021 Fed Cup Finals scheduled for Budapest.

After the delivery of her child, Sania returned to the court in a good fashion by winning the Hobart International champion with her Ukrainian partner Nadiia Kichenok

Sania has now joined Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka, and Mandy Minella as mothers that are still playing the game.

Ready for the challenge ahead, Sania said she will take things one day at a time as her body really reacts differently now, which could be due to age or childbirth.

While stating that she would continue playing, she said that’s what she felt is best for her. According to her, this is because of the winning moments. An instance was last weekend when India qualified alongside China as the two nations to play against Latvia and the Netherlands in Fed Cup playoffs.

After the triumph in Dubai, Sania left for Indian Wells that was later canceled due to the coronavirus.

Relieving some of her great moments, Sania said that was the reason she came back as she can’t replace the winning feeling in normal life.
