“It was a bromance”: Steve Kerr reflects on LeBron James and Steph Curry’s bonhomie for Team USA at the Olympics

Team USA head coach Steve Kerr revealed LeBron James and Steph Curry were like brothers on the court while representing the national team at the Paris Olympics. The veteran duo played together for Team USA in the Paris Olympics and the talismanic duo helped the country clinch their 17th gold at the Games.

James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists on 66% shooting in the Olympics and thus played an instrumental role in taking his team to glory. The veteran was named Olympic MVP after scoring 14 points with six rebounds and 10 assists in the summit clash.

On the other hand, Steph Curry, who scored 36 points against Serbia in the semifinal, added 24 points in the final against France, including eight three-pointers. The Golden State Warriors star averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.7 steals per game at the Games.

Steve Kerr said while speaking to the media, “It was a bromance. There is so much respect. There has been for so long. But until you are playing on the same team, you do not know what it is going to be like. It clicked from day one.”

Meanwhile, Kerr showered praise on LeBron James’ work ethic and for delivering goods for the national team despite turning 39.

“LeBron was as professional as anybody I have ever been around in my life, in his approach to everything. Every morning, I would go to the gym, work out, early, at seven o’clock. LeBron would be there with his trainer. Practice is at ten. There is a reason, he is doing what he is doing at 39. The way he would approach practice and shoot around, talk in film sessions, engage his teammates, and lead, is very similar to Steph in that. I think LeBron is more vocal, but there is an inherent leadership immediately apparent with both guys. It was impressive to watch.”

The Warriors defeated the Lakers by 111-97 as they continued their good start to the preseason.
