India will take on Sri Lanka in their second Super Fours stage match at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo of the ongoing Asia Cup on Tuesday. Both of these teams won their respective opening Super Fours stage matches and they will look to continue the good show in order to make their case stronger to qualify for the final.
India thrashed Pakistan on Monday at the same venue by a gargantuan margin of 228 runs, their biggest win against the arch-rivals. There were a lot of positive signs for India as Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave a perfect platform to the team, which was utilized by KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.
Rahul, who was returning to the team after a long layoff, batted at his best to score 111 runs whereas Kohli smashed 122 runs, which was his 47th ODI century. Kohli also became the fastest batter to reach the 13000-run mark, getting there in only 267 innings and bettering Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 321 innings.
Furthermore, Kuldeep Yadav breathed down the neck of the Pakistan batters’, registering impressive figures of 5-25.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka had beaten Bangladesh by 21 runs after Sadeera Samarawickrama scored a fine knock of 93. Moreover, Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana scalped three wickets each for the Islanders.
However, Sri Lanka will have their work cut out against a potent Indian team. Unfortunately, rain is once again expected to play killjoy.
