The two familiar opponents – India and Sri Lanka – will take on each other in the Super Fours stage of the ongoing Asia Cup at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Tuesday. Both teams have been unbeaten in the tournament thus far and they will look to continue the good show.
India ticked all the right boxes as they obliterated Pakistan by a huge margin of 228 runs, registering their biggest win against the arch-rivals whereas Sri Lanka had defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs in their previous match.
The Indian openers – Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma – gave a perfect start as they added 121 runs against Pakistan. Subsequently, Rahul scored 111 runs whereas Kohli contributed 122 as the duo added an unbeaten alliance of 233 runs for the third wicket. Furthermore, Kuldeep Yadav was right on the money, taking 5-25 in his fine spell.
On the other hand, Sadeera Samarawickrama scored a crucial knock of 93 runs off just 72 balls against Bangladesh. Moreover, Sri Lankan bowlers were able to defend 257 runs as Dasun Shanaka, Maheesh Theekshana, and Matheesha Pathirana bagged three wickets each.
