Royal Challengers Bengaluru mentor Dinesh Karthik hailed the team’s think tank after they clinched a six-run win against Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday. This is RCB’s maiden title in the IPL and Karthik gave his gratitude to the support staff.
RCB posted 190 runs on the board after they were put into bat by Shreyas Iyer, with Virat Kohli top-scoring with 43 runs off 35 balls. Subsequently, Krunal Pandya bowled a match-winning spell as he returned with impressive figures of 2-17 in his quota of four overs, accounting for Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis.
Meanwhile, Karthik hailed head coach Andy Flower for pushing the team to work hard in the training sessions and helping RCB go all the way in the tournament.
Dinesh Karthik said after the win while talking to the official broadcasters, “A lot of credit to our support staff. I think we’ve been really good. It’s a very cliched thing to say at the end of the tournament, but I must say Andy Flower put us through the rigour. He really pushed us. And I think it made us good support staff. Like, I’ve become a better batting coach than what I started. Obviously, it’s my first time. But the way he’s groomed me and helped me, more than that, the way from the start, he had a plan and a vision.”
Karthik dedicated the win to all RCB fans, who had to wait for 18 years to celebrate their first title.
Karthik added, “It’s a team that waited 18 years, played a lot of good cricket, had to wait its time. But it belongs to every fan here because they’ve been waiting here. They’ve had a great time. They all cried their hearts out. There are a couple of support staff in our team, all these guys have waited 18 years. I’m very happy for them.”
RCB were able to tick the right boxes and came up with a collective effort to win their first title.
