India’s leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is delighted to be bestowed with the responsibility of bowling in the death overs after the visitors won the second T20I by seven wickets (DLS method) in a rain-curtailed match at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele on Sunday.
Bishnoi returned with impressive figures of 3-26 in his quota of four overs to help India restrict Sri Lanka to 161-9 after Suryakumar Yadav decided to field first. The leg-spinner accounted for Pathum Nissanka and dismissed Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga on consecutive deliveries while bowling the 17th over.
Bishnoi said he loves bowling the wrong ones and he wanted to stick to his plans in the second game of the series. The leg-spinner was awarded Player of the Match after the tourists took an impregnable lead of 2-0 in the series.
Ravi Bishnoi said in the post-match presentation, “The pitch was a little different from yesterday. It was turning a bit. Today, in the first innings it was helping the spinners. What I bowl, that’s good pace for me. I stick to my plans. I just love bowling the wrong ‘uns.”
He added, “The things which work for me, I try to bowl that and wrong ‘uns work for me against the left-handers. It’s a good responsibility to have (to bowl at the death), it means that the management and captain trust in you. I would love to take that responsibility.”
Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya also bagged two wickets apiece. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a fine cameo of 15-ball 30 whereas captain Suryakumar Yadav continued his rich form, scoring 26 from only 12 balls in the run-chase of 78 (DLS target).
The third and final T20I of the series will be played at the same venue on Tuesday.
