Australia will lock horns against Scotland in the 35th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia on Saturday. Australia’s fast bowler Josh Hazlewood made headlines when he said that might take it easy on Scotland to knock out arch-rivals England.
“In this tournament you potentially come up against England at some stage again,” Hazlewood said after Australia confirmed their Super Eight spot with a clinical win over Namibia before stressing any tactical decisions were not his to make. “They’re probably one of the top few teams on their day and we’ve had some real struggles against them in T20 cricket, so if we can get them out of the tournament that’s in our best interest as well as probably everyone else.
If Australia is found to be guilty, their captain Mitchell Marsh can be suspended for two matches by the ICC.
Australia has already confirmed their Super 8 qualification after a thumping nine-wicket win against Namibia whereas Scotland will become the second team from Group B if they stun the Aussies.
Australia had skittled out the Namibia for only 72 and then chased down the target in only 5.4 overs. The Mitchell Marsh wouldn’t want to take their foot off the accelerator.
