The USA will square off against Ireland in the 30th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida on Friday. A win for the hosts will ensure their Super 8 qualification whereas Ireland will need to win to keep themselves alive.
The Irish team has lost both of their matches against India and Canada and they will need to bring their best against the high-flying USA.
America was able to stun Pakistan in the Super Over but lost to India by seven wickets. However, the home team was able to challenge the potent Rohit Sharma-led team, which would have given them a lot of confidence. In fact, they could have gotten over the line had they posted more than 130 runs on the board.
Saurabh Netravalkar was superb in his opening spell as he got the big wickets of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, the USA needs to come up with a better batting show. Their captain Monank Patel missed the crucial match against India due to a niggle and should return to the playing XI against Ireland.
Ireland, on the other hand, suffered a 12-run loss against Canada in the last game. The Paul Stirling-led team could only manage 125-7 while chasing 138 and they certainly need to come up with a better batting show.
Match Prediction: USA might enter the contest as slight favorites against Ireland as they have got the momentum on their side.
