Hyderabad FC’s head coach Thangboi Singto feels stat-wise, they were much better than Chennaiyin FC after their 1-0 loss at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday. Conor Shields’ goal in the seventh minute of the game separated the two teams in the end with Marina Machans bagging three points.
However, it was the Nizams who had better stats in the game. The home team dominated the possession with 68% whereas they took three shots on target. Furthermore, they attempted five shots, which were not on target. On the other hand, the visitors took two shots on target and as many off it.
Thangboi Singto feels finding the back of the net is an issue for his team. Hyderabad FC have lost all of their three matches in the ongoing season and they have conceded four goals while they have scored a solitary goal.
“For me, the concern is scoring goals. Maybe we had 68 percent of possession but we need to put the ball in the net and score. In the second half, we had a good chance by Pete (Petteri Pennanen) which was saved by Debjit (Majumder). Joe (Knowles) had one chance. And the cross from Joe to Aaren (D’silva) was almost there, maybe an inch or two away,” Singto said in the post-match press conference.
Singto rued the fact they could not grab their chances against Chennaiyin FC and it led to their downfall.
“Stat-wise, we were much better than them, but we could not get any points. Going forward, we have to go back and just keep working hard,” Singto said.
“I think the boys did quite well, but there are areas where we have to improve, especially defensive transitions where we really need to press and win the ball. And with the ball we were good. We had 68 percent possession. But going forward, we need to be more clinical. We are creating chances but we need to put the ball in the net to win the game,” he added.
Hyderabad is at the bottom of the points table and they will next take on Mumbai City FC on Saturday at the Mumbai Football Arena.
