Indian Super League 2023-24 came to a close with Mumbai City FC clinching the title after besting Mohun Bagan Super Giant by 3-1 in the final clash at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium, Kolkata on Saturday.
After Jason Cummings scored in the first half for the Mariners, Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Boris Singh, and Jakub Vojtus scored for the Islanders in the second half to help their team clinch their second ISL title.
We take a look at the top three goal-scorers of the season:
Kerala Blasters’ forward Dimitrios Diamantakos won the Golden Boot award for scoring 13 goals in 17 matches for the Yellow Tuskers. The Greek striker played at his best for Ivan Vukomanovic’s team, which finished in fifth place in the ISL standings with 10 wins in 22 matches. Diamantakos also provided three assists for Kerala Blasters FC.
Odisha FC’s striker Roy Krishna continued to impress in the ISL. The talisman scored 13 goals in 25 appearances for the Kalinga Warriors. He also provided three assists for the club. Thus, he played an instrumental role in helping Odisha FC finish at the fourth place in the ISL standings with 11 wins in 22 matches.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s forward Jason Cummings found the back of the net on 12 occasions in 23 matches he played. Ergo, Cummings helped MBSG in their League Shield title victory and took the team to the final of the tournament. Moreover, he scored in the all-important final against Mumbai City FC but his efforts went in vain.
