“Sky’s the limit for India at AFC Asian Cup”, says Sandesh Jhingan

India’s veteran defender Sandesh Jhingan feels the Sky is the limit for the Blue Tigers in the upcoming AFC Asian Cup. India will look to be at their absolute best in the upcoming tournament and deliver the goods in the competition.

However, there is no denying the fact that the Blue Tigers will have their work cut out as they have been drawn into a tough group. Igor Stimac’s team are drawn with teams like Australia, Uzbekistan, and Syria in Group B, and the tournament will take place in Qatar.

The Indian football team squad arrived at the Hamad International Airport in Doha late Saturday night. The Sunil Chhetri-led team will play their opening match of the tournament against potent Australia on 13th January.

“No group in the Asian Cup is easy. Of course, we’ve got Australia, and they need no introduction. But what we have learned in the last few years is that we must never fear any opposition,” Sandesh Jhingan stated in an interview with the-aiff.com.

“Believe in the work you do, believe in your group, and the sky’s the limit for this batch. We must stay humble, keep improving, and hopefully do something special,” Jhingan said.

Meanwhile, India is the lowest-ranked team in Group B and they will certainly have their work cut out. Jhingan said it is important for the team to give their best and hopefully good results will follow.

“We have been getting some great support at home, and we’ve had a great year, which shows how fast we are improving. Now it’s all about putting in our best effort here and seeing where we can land up,” shared Jhingan.

India will want to tick the right boxes against these three opponents and will want to keep their preparation for the AFC Asian Cup on the right track.
