Deep Dasgupta says Indian players were anxious on UK tour

Former Indian wicket-keeper bat Deep Dasgupta reckons there was anxiousness in the body language of Team India players on the UK tour.

India was stunned 0-2 by Ireland and then suffered a 0-4 series loss against England. Thus, India lost six matches on the bounce on the UK tour.

Furthermore, India suffered a 1-2 loss in the three-match ODI series against England. The visitors could not come up with a collective effort with both bat and ball and it led to their downfall.

Dasgupta also questioned the team’s combination after a dismal UK tour.

“Even the locals in England were not able to believe what had happened. If I look at 2 or 3 three things, one is the combination, I think that was an issue from the start. In the first 5-6 matches give the players to realise how the pitches will be and the ground dimensions. So, we can understand the first 3-4 matches in the Ireland and England tour,” Deep Dasgupta said on his YouTube channel.

The former Bengal cricketer reckons the lack of experience also played a role in India’s mundane performance.

“But after that, I thought maybe there was inexperience because there were many people in the team who were playing for the first time. Up until the last T20I, all batters struggled. In those last 3 matches, it was evident in their body language as well. I felt that there was an element of anxiety, a feeling of anxiousness, as to what might happen and all that. So, whatever could have happened, happened. So, it was just a combination of inexperience, injuries,” he added.

India has taken an impregnable lead of 2-0 against Zimbabwe. The third and final T20I between India and Zimbabwe will take place at Harare on Sunday.
