Kerala Blasters have gone through some changes in this off season and it will be interesting to see how their new signings turn up after a very eventful Indian Super League season last time. Among their new signings Victor Mongil has joined the club and has lauded the style and approach adapted by head coach Ivan Vukomanovic. He feels it will need a strong bond among the players to reflect that on the pitch.
Mongil can be a great asset for the club given that he has a lot of experience of playing in India and has represented clubs like ATK and Odisha FC in the past. He even won the ISL title with ATK FC in the 2019-20 season. Therefore the Spaniard is back in India with the aim of winning his second ISL time in the Blasters yellow.
“It would be wonderful to be able to win my second title in ISL, but if on top of that we can add that it is with Kerala Blasters, with the number of fans that the club has, and being able to make history with the club, it is all the incentive that any player needs to really be here,” Mongil shared in an interaction with Sportskeeda.
Kerala Blasters embarked on a new era under the Serbian coach Ivan Vukomanovic and his style became an instant hit among the fans, the football enthusiasts and also the experts. The quick transitions, focus on keeping the ball and at the same time moving it around with speed made Vukomanovic’s style so much exciting.
Mongil, who has joined the club for preseason training had only good things to say about the Blasters coach Ivan Vukomanovic. He feels that the Serb has made everyone believe that this is the style and philosophy that is going get them success and everyone has faith in him.
“I think that with his style and way of leading the team, he has made everyone totally believe in him and have that faith in him. The most important thing for a coach or technical staff is to make a team believe in the methodology, work and style. of the coach and he has achieved it,” the 30-year-old shared.
Lastly the defender highlighted how the local talents from Kerala made a difference for the Blasters and contributed largely to their run to the finals. “One of the key successes of the previous season was that the Indian players from Kerala also showed that much more talent can still be squeezed out here, and that we can all be an important part of achieving this goal since in the long term it would be a great success for club and country,” the Spaniard revealed.
It will be interesting to see Victor Mongil play for a new club in the ISL after his two previous stints which were majorly contrasting. However he is someone who can lead from the back and is very easy on the ball. So there are signs that he can be the man for Vukomanovic.
